DRAP

DRAP DRAP stands for Drishtee Rural Apparel Producer Organization. DRAP is owned by rural women producers, supervised by textile professionals and promoted by Drishtee Foundation. DRAP envisions enabling underprivileged women community and craft clusters by providing sustainable employment opportunities in textiles and crafts. In 2012, Drishtee Foundation helped a group of 110 women in Bhagalpur to establish their apparel producer organization - DRAP. An integrated internal value chain is being established which includes linked clusters of handspinning, handloom weaving and stitching using minimal carbon footprints. The core focus is to provide them with maximum sources of livelihood within the villages where they lived and continuous skill upgradation training. The regular-wear apparels made by these women are linked to e-retail marketplaces in India under the brand name of DRAP. The proven model of DRAP as an effective and sustainable business process will necessitate long term development initiatives focused largely on rural women producers and market reach.
